Synopsis

On Australia Day we celebrate with a special preview of a very deftly crafted road-movie that'll take you on a tension packed journey from the streets of Sydney to the back blocks of Australia. With a clever series of twists, the odd moment of sharp laconic humour, strong cameos from Bryan Brown and Shane Jacobson, and superb lead performances by Travis McMahon and David Lyons, Cactus marks a breathtaking debut by first time director Jasmine Yuen-Carracun.

The story begins when a man is kidnapped from his Sydney home in the quiet of the night. The kidnapper, John Kelly, embarks on a journey into the Australian outback where several days later he's due to deliver his hostage. As time and distance roll by, the strength and endurance of both men will be tested as fate plays its unpredictable hand. Beautifully filmed, this is one that'll keep you guessing all the way.
