Sure to be one of the art-house hits of the summer, and even a cult classic into the future, Juno is that rare phenomenon of a razor sharp comedy about a teenager growing-up-hard that adults will revel in.
There's no stopping Juno MacGuff (Page), a confident, young teen with no shortage of attitude and the world at her feet. That is until she discovers she's pregnant to her sweet but hopeless best friend Bleeker (Cera). The only thing the pair can agree on is that they are definitely not ready to become parents. After considering her options, Juno hatches a plan to put the baby up for adoption. Via the trusted method of a classified ad, she finds the Lorings, the perfect would-be affluent middle class parents who are desperate for a baby. Despite the culture clash, it seems like a foolproof plan, that is until Juno discovers perfect is something affluent middle class adults struggle with.
Coloured by an incredibly smart and sassy script and raft of great performances, this is a very modern take on finding your way in the world from the director of Thank You For Smoking.
"All performances are sharp, which shows what can happen when actors get to play characters and deliver lines that bristle with originality."
Hollywood Reporter
"Juno veers from outrageously acidic to legitimately warm-hearted without missing a beat, and none of the stops along the way strike a false note."
