We're delighted to open the 2008 season with a film sure to enthrall audiences with its very witty, sexy, charming and clever examination of our fascinations with love, and its great proponent, Jane Austen.

Set in modern day California, The Jane Austen Book Club tells the story of six very different characters who over six months come together once a month to discuss a different Jane Austen novel. As we enter the interwoven lives of the six characters (five women and a man), we witness how the complexities of marriage, friendship, romantic entanglements, position, and social mores are little different now than they were for Austen and her characters.

Adapted from the best-selling novel by Karen Joy Fowler, this unashamedly feel-good film will appeal to anyone of any gender who has ever picked up a good book and not been able to put it down.
